The Staranzano Water Festival is back for its fourth year, reaffirming itself as a multifaceted event with diverse expressions: today more than ever, it does so with conviction, as it is increasingly urgent to engage every possible audience in order to raise awareness throughout the community about the importance of water as a resource.
Over thirty events are scheduled, including numerous talks on popular science and geopolitical analysis, as well as performances, readings, and exhibitions, featuring nationally and internationally renowned figures. There will also be plenty of open-air experiences and diverse expressions of local culture.

There will also be plenty of open-air experiences and diverse expressions of local culture.
The focus of the 2026 edition is water found underground or on the ocean floor: the tagline, in fact, reads “Under / Invisible Paths.” At the heart of many in-depth discussions and exhibitions will be an exploration of karst environments, caves, the subsurface, and the deep sea.
The exploration of the Under world is the first step in a three-year project that, through 2028, aims to investigate three distinct realms: in 2027, the focus will shift to “Above” (on the Earth’s surface), and with “Beyond” in 2028, the discussion will turn to the sky and space. As always, this scientific journey finds expression in original artistic outputs, in the spirit of Artscience.
Once again this year, studies, measurements, and analyses will take shape in multisensory installations created by some of the most innovative artists on the international contemporary scene.

The Staranzano Water Festival continues under the banner of ArtScience, a research methodology that fosters interaction between science and art; this year, once again, it is led by young researchers collaborating with contemporary artists.
Science remains at the center, thanks in part to the presence of leading figures in science communication, professors, and technical experts who put their knowledge at the service of public information, with the goal of disseminating, in an accessible manner and using different languages, high-quality content on water, sustainability, and the protection of natural resources and the landscape.

Among its many forms of expression, the Water Festival does not neglect art, in its broadest and deepest sense.
Readings and theatrical lectures bring science into dialogue with jazz, poetry, history, and the local landscape.
Immersive performances that blend classical music, poetry, and installations evoke an almost magical atmosphere.
Puppet theater that—with great technical skill—stirs the soul by giving voice to fantastical creatures and—above all—embraces sign language so that even deaf people can “hear” it.
Music and video animation that together construct innovative narratives that play with water.
And a focus on the youngest audience members, who—through books, storytelling, and imagination—can think, play, and tell stories with water to become familiar with it and understand its importance.
These and many other artistic expressions, more or less conventional, reflect the Festival’s modernity and multidisciplinary nature, centered on water and the protection of the environmental heritage, with the aim of enchanting the audience and instilling profound impressions and a sense of beauty.
It’s not just about talks and events: the Staranzano Water Festival is also an opportunity to explore the local area and its history tied to water.
Through guided tours, hiking, and bike rides, you can experience water in the great outdoors, in harmony with the environment and the landscape.
